Church Planting for a New Generation in Russia.

The prayer is that there is a foundation being laid today for movement of God in Bryansk, Russia.  The population of that is most open to the gospel in 21st century Russia is the young generation. Think about the significance of this statement: this is the first generation in 1000 years of Russian history that has the opportunity to make their own decisions. Decisions about life’s directions…where they will work…what education they will receive…where they will travel…and what kind of faith or even lack of faith they will adhere to.  This generation is ready and open to hear and respond to the gospel of Jesus Christ, and today in Bryansk God is moving among this young generation.  The first church of this kind is called… “History Makers Church.”

History Makers Church in Bryansk was founded by a group of young people who began as a small home group. They are in process now of meeting weekly in a theater in Bryansk and they are seeing many come to faith in Christ. After meeting in homes and in the summer in parks, there have been 2 major events that helped launch History Makers.

History Makers Summer Camp, July 2008 hosted by a partner ministry team, “Glowing Heart” from Dallas, Texas. 40 + Bryansk young people gathered for 3 days of worship, discipleship, teaching, inspiration, and formation of a new beginning.  The next History Makers camp is scheduled for July 1, 2009. Public Worship Service were launched for the first time in November of 2008 in a theater in the city of Bryansk. Each Sunday evening, History Makers gathers for worship, praise, and teaching as they open the doors to the secular and disconnected in the city.

Baptism and Communion reflect the public testimony of a life given to follow Jesus Christ. In March 2009 the first public baptism and communion was shared by the river… the cold “Desna” River in Bryansk, when 5 young people publicly professed their faith in Jesus Christ. As one of the young people “Nikita” said in his testimony… “I have followed a different path for many years, and today I am dedicating my life to follow Jesus for the rest of my days.”

Prayer for the Lost of Bryansk: Nothing is possible without the complete dependence on God. History Makers weekly gathers in the city, often at Lenin Square center, to pray for the citizens of Bryansk, asking God to guide this church of young people to reach the disconnected and lost from Christ in the community.
